The Spector Euro5 LX has everything a discerning bass player could want. A comfortable, carved European alder body is capped with an eye-catching North American figured maple top — a balanced-sounding combination that melds warmth, sustain, and bite into a gorgeous tonal cocktail. An easy-playing 24-fret rosewood fingerboard rests upon a super-stable 3-piece maple neck. Experience maximum sonic impact, by virtue of Spector’s acclaimed TonePump active preamp and active EMG humbucking pickups. Complete with slick-looking Crown fingerboard inlays, the Euro5 LX is a well-equipped 5-string electric bass.
The Euro5 LX includes a TonePump active preamp with an internal boost trimpot. This preamp employs JFET-based circuitry rather than op-amps, which yields many tube-like characteristics. When you overdrive an op-amp (something that happens at the peak of nearly every note you play), it clips and needs a moment to recover. This results in a perceptible tone loss. Like tubes, the TonePump’s JFET-based circuitry doesn’t do this. Rather, it softly distorts, producing a second harmonic that fuses seamlessly into your note. Beyond that, the first signal after the peak comes through loud and clear — no recovery time required. Bassists are impressed with the clarity of this preamp — it makes a world of difference!
The Spector Euro5 LX comes loaded with a pair of EMG active humbucking pickups with ceramic magnets and steel pole pieces. This versatile set delivers a massive array of tonal combinations, including rich, warm single-coil tones and aggressive, mid-forward humbucker sounds. The wide range of tones that these pickups exhibit is well suited for any playing style.
If you’ve always craved a Spector NS bass but found them to be out of your budget, you’ll dig the Euro Series. These basses are essentially production versions of those coveted instruments, with the same sleek carved bodies as their US-made cousins. Euro Series basses were handcrafted in the Czech Republic using top-shelf tonewoods from the United States and Europe — you’ll love the natural resonance and tone of these instruments. What’s more, you get graphite-reinforced truss rods, premium pickups, and Spector’s acclaimed TonePump active preamp. The Euro Series continues Stuart Spector’s decades-long tradition of innovation.
